Welcome to the forum Bob, hope you will find it useful and at the same time contribute a little.

Agree with your comments she did make some strange comments from time to time. On the whole she gave a good range of marks which is unusual for a judge. Dissapointing for those who were the receiver of the low mark, but in my view it makes the high marks worth just that little bit more.

I paid a short visit to this show yesterday, some very good images, worth a visit if you have an hour to spare.

If you look at the front page of the website you will see that the IOM winner for October is shown there and has been since early November.

Welcome to the Forum Sam.I am afraid I am not really a fan of Facebook,  but if limited to photography and not pictures of what I had for supper last night, then that might be worthwhile.

Thank you for that comment Paul. The images have been on the website for well over twelve months and you are the first person to comment.
There ii still some more work to be done by adding more titles and photographers which I hope to be able to do soon.

Perhaps you would elaborate on the kind of evening you mentioned  What do you see as the content for such an evening.

Hi Matt.

Welcome to Southend. We Meet at The Guild Hall close to Prittlewell Church on Friday nights 7:30 PM for 8:00 PM start. This Friday there is a talk by Andy Marbrow on print mounting.

Perhaps we will see you there.

I did take a look at that video and decided that I would probably have too many bits left over when I finished the re-assembly so thought it was better to go to the professionals. They will give it a full overhaul and at the same time replace the front lens where the coating had become marked. So taking it as a whole I sure it is the best route. The repair cost is considerably cheaper than a new lens although I believe John Lewis were offering them for around 670.00

Should get it back this week.

I am not sure but I would guess I have had it 5 or 6 years and it was second hand when I bought it so I suppose not bad. The chap at the repair depot said that the aperture fault was a known problem with that particular lens.

Cameras / Canon Repairs and Service
« on: June 17, 2015, 07:27:24 am »
I have been having a problem with my Canon 24-105 lens. The message i was getting was the 01 communication error with a message on the screen advising that the camera could not communicate with the lens. This is an aperture problem and is known to occur with this lens.

There is a Canon Repair Service based in Colchester and I took my lens there yesterday. They checked it and immediately confirmed that was the problem. Cost to repair is 120 plus vat plus postage if applicable. They will fully overhaul and check the lens and return as new. Turn round just over a week.
Here is their website    http://camera-repair.co.uk/

Just to say thank you to Richard for suggesting  and organising the day in London. Only a pity that the day started off with the light so flat and dull, although it did brighten up in the end. Borough Market and Southwark Cathedral definitely on my list to visit again.

A good day out with a few passable pictures.

Thanks again
